Birmingham City striker Marvin Ducksch’s move to Valencia collapsed on deadline day, after the Championship stopped his exit.
The Blues signed him from Werder Bremen in July 2025, and he managed 11 goals and two assists from 36 matches in his debut season.
However, the German wasn’t happy at Birmingham City and was keen on returning to his country.
In June, he had confirmed talks with several German clubs. At that time, he said: “I’m definitely in talks with several clubs, including some in the Bundesliga. I’m relatively open to that.”
However, the attacker didn’t secure a move back to his country in the recently concluded window.
Valencia’s late approach for Birmingham City man
Last weekend, Los Ches striker Umar Sadiq suffered a hamstring injury in his side’s 3-1 defeat to Deportivo de A Coruña.
The setback forced the La Liga side to look for a new striker and made an approach for Marvin Ducksch.

Los Ches first contacted for a loan deal on Monday. Both Birmingham City and the player agreed, while the former didn’t complete the operation immediately.
Delay cost Valencia
Carlos Corberán’s side again contacted the Blues on Tuesday, hours before the window closed.
There was an agreement in place with the 32-year-old. However, Chris Davies’ side, who had initially agreed to let him leave, changed their stance.
Marvin Ducksch was an unused substitute in his side’s 1-1 draw against Southampton on Tuesday.
Valencia had approached Birmingham City less than an hour before yesterday’s kickoff. By then, Davies had included the frontman in his squad. Therefore, the English club have stopped his loan move to Mestalla, despite the player’s agreement with Los Ches.
Journalist Nacho Sanchis backs it up, and adds Birmingham City blocked his late exit.
He states: ‘When Valencia called Birmingham City a few hours ago, the club turned them down. The club claims that it’s too late now and that they’ve had 24 hours to finalise the deal; in fact, the forward has a game today [Tuesday] and is on the squad, so they don’t think it’s worth removing him from the squad and the training camp at this late hour just to deal with the paperwork.’
