Newcastle United‘s William Osula is likely to spend an extended period on the sidelines, after suffering a setback in August.
That’s according to Viaplay in Denmark, who makes it clear it’s their own update about the striker’s injury situation.
Newcastle United injury blow
On August 23rd, Matthias Jaissle started the 23-year-old in his first competitive match in the Magpies 2-2 draw against Liverpool at St James’ Park.
His decision paid off quickly as William Osula assisted Anthony Elanga’s opener in the fifth minute.
Joe Willock came on to replace him in the 56th minute. The Denmark international, who suffered a foot injury against the Reds, had initially played on before his withdrawal in the second half. He had a ‘bad start to the season’.
The injury blow forced him to miss the Premier League side’s 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. Jaissle or his side haven’t provided a timeline on when the attacker will return to the pitch.
Newcastle player doubtful for international break
Viaplay now says William Osula has been ‘wearing a splint’ since picking an injury against Liverpool over two weeks ago.
Their sources have informed them that the Dane will be ‘out for a long time’.
There’s no mention of his return date, while the report’s title says William Osula may miss the next international break. Within the report, they say he’s doubtful about representing the national team in the coming weeks.
Should the Dane miss out, he won’t return to action with Newcastle United at least until next month. The English club face Coventry City on October 13th, after the international break.
Prior to that, the Magpies have four matches against AFC Bournemouth, Millwall [EFL Cup], Leeds United and Hull City this month. If Viaplay’s report is true, Osula is likely to miss these fixtures.

Last season, Osula scored seven goals from 24 league matches and six of them were after March. Newcastle United’s decision to block his move to Eintracht Frankfurt in January has paid off.
