Rangers‘ Thelo Aasgaard has left Ibrox, after Derek McInnes’ side sanctioned a surprise move to Anderlecht on Wednesday.
The transfer windows in Scotland and Belgium will close later today, allowing these clubs to carry out business for the next few hours.
Anderlecht have announced the midfielder’s arrival from Rangers. The agreement with the Scottish club is to sign him on loan with an option to buy.
Rapid Rangers exit
The Jupiler Pro League side haven’t confirmed the purchase option price or if there are any agreed upon conditions to convert it into a purchase obligation.

Anderlecht have qualified for the Europa League group stage, and Wednesday was the deadline to submit their squad. Therefore, they rushed in to complete Thelo Aasgaard’s signing quickly, after identifying him as their priority target.
Derek McInnes had left him out of the squad for Rangers’ 2-1 win over Falkrik yesterday because his move to the Belgium club was at an advanced stage.
The Ibrox man completed his medical tests in Scotland and then travelled to Brussels via a private jet to complete his loan move to Anderlecht.
Anderlecht’s agreement with Rangers
In July 2025, the Norway international moved to Ibrox from Luton Town, months after joining them. He left the English clubs following their relegation from the Championship.
The attacking midfielder finished his debut season with eight goals and five assists from 2,502 minutes from 48 matches.
The newspaper says Thelo Aasgaard had lost prominence at Rangers this season and therefore, he has left the Scottish club for Anderlecht.
Derek McInnes has handed him 293 minutes from five matches, and it includes three starts this season.
Anderlecht are paying under €1m in loan fee with a purchase option of ‘just under €6m’.
In short, the overall fee will be around €7m if the Norwegian were to secure a permanent move to Anderlecht.
