Everton continue to hang around Mauro Icardi’s situation, although the striker seems pretty relaxed about still being without a club.
The Argentine remains available a month after the summer window closed. He’s now publicly showing himself training and has hit back at those questioning why he’s still unemployed.
As for England, Everton and Tottenham are the two clubs still being mentioned around him. But there’s an obvious problem with the latter: Tottenham already submitted a full 25-man Premier League squad, so they don’t currently have room to add Icardi.
Everton only named 19 senior players. That leaves them as the realistic English option of the two, should anything finally happen.
Icardi isn’t worried
TyC Sports bring Everton back into the picture on Wednesday while covering Icardi’s latest social media posts. They say there were talks involving both Everton and Tottenham, although things never went beyond enquiries.
The 33-year-old has now posted pictures of himself training and accompanied them with a pretty defiant message.
“They confuse unemployment with failure, I call it having my life sorted,” he said. “They confuse being without a contract with having no options. I call it freedom of choice.”
“I worked to own my time, to have my future secured. If I stopped working, my life would remain the same.”
“I don’t understand why you’re worried about me. Live calmly, live in peace and with lots of love. I already have everything.”
So much for the claims earlier this month that Icardi had stopped training and could be preparing to retire. He’s clearly still keeping himself fit. Finding the right club is proving more difficult.

Everton route is still there
TyC say PAOK and Olympiacos remain around Icardi, but both are some way from meeting his demands.
Moves to Italy have already gone nowhere. Lazio and Fiorentina were both possibilities, while Gennaro Gattuso eventually rejected the idea of taking Icardi to Rome.
That brings things back to England. Tottenham may have made enquiries, but their Premier League squad is already full. Everton, meanwhile, have six spaces available in their senior list.
There’s still nothing to suggest David Moyes is pushing to sign Icardi. Indeed, all the recent information has pointed towards Everton stopping at the enquiry stage.
But if the striker really does have options, as he’s keen to remind everyone, the Toffees remain one of the more interesting ones mentioned.
For now, Icardi seems in no particular rush to choose any of them.
