Everton and Newcastle United have been mentioned as suitors for Teun Koopmeiners and they have been handed a warning over a deal.
This week, it became clear that the Dutchman could’ve left Juventus in the summer. The Bianconeri have seen him struggle since his big money move in 2024 and were open to his exit.
Newcastle United and Everton were interested in a late deal but never made a formal approach. They remain interested, with Juve still pondering a possible exit.
Koopmeiners isn’t new to criticism in Italy by now but the latest set comes as a warning to suitors from England.
Belief player lacks a lot
Journalist Vincenzo Marangio has written a column for BianconeraNews about the Old Lady’s possible departures. He focused specifically on Koopmeiners, making his criticism for the Netherlands international quite clear.
He made it clear the Everton and Newcastle United-linked midfielder is on his black list.
Marangio wrote: “There are still two names on my very personal black list: Koopmeiners and [Andrea] Cambiaso.”
“The Dutchman has been the most unexpected mystery of Juventus in recent years, a player capable of scoring double figures in goals and assists at Atalanta and arriving at Juve as an unprecedented amateur.”
The journalist believes Koopmeiners has offered nothing of note in Turin. That is in stark contrast to how things were at Atalanta.
“He never once led the team, never showed a hint of personality, never played like a top player, and numbers that certify his total unsuitability for the project, whatever it may be. Carnevali and Massara did everything they could to convince the player to leave this summer, but there was no way.”
He also urged the ex-AZ Alkmaar man to leave as soon as possible.
“Well, Koop, perhaps it’s time for you to find a happy place to reborn, given that you’ve had zero minutes even with the national team. And can’t you wait forever for a sign of life?”

Permanent move will be risky
Koopmeiners is now a shadow of himself and has lost a lot of confidence. Technically, there are little doubts about how good he can be. But physically, questions have been raised.
That should send alarm bells ringing at Everton and Newcastle United. They can’t take a risk with a player who is still valued at over €20m.
They need players who guarantee chances of success. Instead, Koopmeiners himself needs a club where he has to be a central figure. That will help him bring more out of his strengths.
So even if Everton and Newcastle United want him, it should only be a loan deal.
