In the last window, claims coming out of Turkey explained that Tottenham Hotspur had shown interest in Galatasaray’s Victor Nelsson. It was also stated the defender was keen on making a switch to the north London club.
Tottenham are apparently still interested in the 24-year-old and Akşam reported last month that they could sign him for €30m.
Nelsson is currently with the Denmark camp and when speaking to the local media he revealed his desire to change clubs after Galatasaray blocked his exit.
“It was very close with Sevilla. The plane was ordered, but it did not materialise,” he said, as quoted by Tipsbladet.
“I think that Galatasaray have blocked a transfer. It’s no secret. They have not found the package good enough. There has been interest and offers from clubs I really want to join. I would have liked to have been changed.”
The Tottenham target has made 13 appearances this season and has been reduced to a substitute’s role in the last three matches.
His current deal expires in 2026 and recent claims from Turkey have stated the Istanbul club are planning to offer an extension. This claim has been dismissed by the player and he has also talked about his contract situation.
“I have had some talks with them. I informed them after the last international break that I do not want to extend my contract. I have three years left on my contract and I just couldn’t see myself extending an extra year,” Nelsson explained.
Tipsbladet are of the belief the Denmark international could leave Galatasaray ‘soon’ and this could please Spurs, who are reportedly said to be in the picture to sign him. Earlier today, Milliyet reported the Turkish champions could sanction Nelsson’s sale for €20m.
