Rasmus Højlund has scored three goals for Manchester United since arriving at the club from Atalanta this summer.
The striker netted all these goals in the Champions League and two of them were assisted by Marcus Rashford.
Speaking to the reporters in Denmark, relayed by Tipsbladet, the 20-year-old has insisted that he’s delighted to play alongside Rashford at Manchester United.
“I really like playing with him. He is a world class football player. I enjoy playing with a player like him,” he said.
Rashford, 25, came up through the ranks of the Red Devils’ youth system before making his way into their first team during the 2015/16 season. Since then, he has been a regular for the Premier League side.
Højlund is five years younger than the England international and he didn’t shy away from revealing that he looks up to his teammate.
“Yes, 100%. He’s a player I’ve looked up to, even though he’s only a few years older than me,” Højlund explained.
“He has done well since he came in as a 19-year-old and scored against Midtjylland. I think he has been a great player ever since, and it is of course great that we are teammates today.”
Last month, Rashford told Manchester United’s official website that he and the Dane have done some “work off the pitch” which the coaching staff aren’t aware of.
Taking Rashford’s comments into account, the Danish press were of the belief the duo were having secret training sessions, and the Red Devils’ summer signing has provided clarification about this suggestion.
“I think it is badly translated from English to Danish. We haven’t had secret training sessions. We have only talked at training sessions, where we have tried to find each other’s patterns,” the Dane added.
