Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sage’s decision to not utilise Darío Osorio has led to concerns in Chile.

On deadline day, the winger joined the Premier League side from FC Midtjylland on loan with a purchase option.

This season, he managed two goals and three assists in 829 minutes from 11 matches for Midtjylland, before joining Crystal Palace. The Chile international hasn’t enjoyed more game time with the Eagles just yet.

Osorio made his league debut in his side’s 3-2 win over Fulham in September. Later that month, he started in the EFL Cup win over Middlesbrough and hasn’t featured for the London club since then.

Growing concerns about Crystal Palace player

Prior to the international break, Pierre Sage left the 22-year-old on the bench in the 0-0 draw against Leeds United.

Two days later, Sport Witness covered a report from Chile explaining that there isn’t any drama at Selhurst Park. The manager protected him because he had a minor issue.

However, that didn’t prevent him from playing the national team’s friendlies in September and October. The last clash was against Mexico on October 7th [UK time] and he played 84 minutes.

Four days later, the Frenchman left Darío Osorio out of the squad for Crystal Palace’s 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest. This has generated concerns in Chile over his situation at the London club.

Sage’s decision about Crystal Palace man valid

La Tercera says his omission indicates the manager has slammed the door on the player, who is going through a ‘complex situation’ at Selhurst Park.

The Frenchman made a ‘significant decision’ to drop Darío Osorio for the weekend clash and Bolavip Chile explains why.

He returned to Crystal Palace late after the international break. Chile’s last fixture was in Los Angeles, after which the player travelled to London. Pierre Sage left him out, hoping for him to be fully fit to face Lyon in the Europa League on Thursday

La Magia Azul are also reporting Sage’s decision to not include the Chilean was because of the ‘logistical setback’. This had disrupted the manager’s plans, leading up to the clash against the Reds.

Sage also wanted to avoid ‘physically and tactically overloading’ the summer signing. These are justifiable reasons, mainly to protect Osorio.

The expectation is for the attacker to settle in quickly in London and start enjoying regular minutes. The concerns in Chile could be genuine if the leaves him out again to face Lyon and the following fixtures.
