On July 28th, Sky Deutschland journalist Patrick Berger reported Werder Bremen have reached an agreement in princple with Leeds United’s Isaac Schmidt.
The Bundesliga club haven’t concluded the deal yet as they have been waiting for Leeds’ green light. The German press have reported Daniel Farke wants a replacement first before letting the 25-year-old leave this summer.
A week ago, Bild reported Werder Bremen are optimistic about signing Schmidt after positive talks with Leeds United.
According to Deich Stube, that is no longer the case now as the German club’s ‘patience is running out’.
Werder Bremen are prioritising strengthening their defence and attack and the Leeds man is the main target for the former. They have an agreement with Schmidt and want to sign him on loan with an option to buy.
The Whites need to sign his replacement, to give the green light for the exit. That hasn’t happened yet, and the outlet says this is testing Werder Bremen’s patience, right before the start of the new season.
Deich Stube reports Werder Bremen want Leeds United to make a decision in the coming days as they don’t intend to wait for the Switzerland international for much longer.
