Last summer, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was reportedly keen on signing Rodrygo, but he didn’t want to leave Real Madrid.
Fast forward a year later and claims from the UK have stated Manchester City are back in the mix to sign him this summer.
Tuesday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo relays that and then states the La Liga club haven’t yet received an offer from Manchester City.
Real Madrid don’t intend to move forward unless the player, valued at €100m, gives his approval. For now, Mundo claim his desire is to continue in the Spanish capital.
Marca also provide their own take on the latest claims of Manchester City interest in the Brazil international.
They say ‘something could happen with City’, suggesting Pep Guardiola’s side could make advances in this window.
He and his camp haven’t received a concrete proposal from the Citizens. Therefore, the newspaper looks at the 24-year-old’s current situation rather than what may happen in the near future.
Rodrygo’s desire is to succeed at Real Madrid and that hasn’t changed despite uncertainty over his future. The newspaper says this doesn’t mean the forward can’t leave in this window, but there haven’t been any developments so far.
As of last night, Real Madrid hadn’t received a concrete offer from the Premier League side or another club. His price is around €100m and the South American’s salary also has to be taken into account.
Marca point out Guardiola personally called the player in 2024, to talk to him about the project at the Etihad.
Back then, Rodrygo was a key player at Real Madrid, but his prominence has fallen since. Despite that, the report insists there won’t be movements until Real Madrid receive a €100m bid.
The newspaper suspect Manchester City could make advances in the coming weeks.
