Chelsea‘s Estêvão Willian has no chance of leaving the Premier League side in the winter market despite exit links.
In June 2024, the Blues agreed a deal with Palmeiras for him to arrive at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2025.
In his debut season at Chelsea, the winger scored eight goals and contributed four assists from 36 matches. His first season ended in April after suffering a hamstring injury.
The Brazil international was out of action until July, forcing him to miss the World Cup. While he was working on his recovery, the English club appointed Xabi Alonso as their new manager in May.
Big goals with Chelsea
In June, the 19-year-old talked about his big ambition, both personally and collectively with the Blues.
He said: “I think it’s very important for a player to have goals. I have my goals, I have my ambitions. I have goals with the group, which today is Chelsea, and I have personal goals as well.”
However, the youngster hasn’t enjoyed a key role under Xabi Alonso this season, playing 259 minutes in nine matches. This includes 125 minutes from two EFL Cup matches.
At the weekend, Estêvão made his first Premier League start of the season in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Manchester United. He played 87 minutes, taking his overall league tally to 134 minutes.
The attacker had three of the six shots on target, with an expected xG of 0.54 and xA of 0.22 against the Red Devils.
Chelsea’s big plan for Brazilian
Prior to the clash against Michael Carrick’s side, there were reports about the possibility of Estêvão leaving in January. His difficult situation was a constant topic during Xabi Alonso’s press conferences.
Despite the manager’s comments, there have been links of the player wanting to move to a new club. AS have a report about the South American’s performance in Chelsea’s latest win and covers his future towards the end.
The newspaper relays claims made elsewhere about the winter exit and states that option is ‘currently off the table’.
His contract is until 2033, and AS states that the renewal negotiations are underway for the renewal with an improved contract. Chelsea want the youngster to be the ‘face of this side’. This shows the Blues value him not only for the present but also for their long-term.
