Nottingham Forest have appeared close to signing Fiorentina’s Dodo but a deal is yet to be finalised.
This week, SportWitness have covered that the Midlands club have made a decisive move for the deal. There wasn’t an agreement over personal terms just yet but things were heading in the right direction.
La Nazione also clarified that the two clubs are in agreement for a deal worth €10m plus bonuses. Now, there are signs the deal may yet take some time.
Possible renewal pushed
Today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport provides information about the Brazilian’s situation, making it clear that there is no agreement between the clubs.
Fiorentina demand €10m plus bonuses. This came through after Nottingham Forest asked for Dodo but they are yet to meet La Viola’s asking price.
At the same time, Oliver Glasner’s side are ‘carefully considering’ the right move. So far, this hasn’t arrived but more developments can happen soon.
The newspaper also tease the idea of a one-year renewal for the defender. His current deal expires in 2027 and that is why his valuation is lower than it would normally be. But if Nottingham Forest don’t reach an agreement in time, the player could extend until 2028.
This would allow Fiorentina greater control over the situation and they won’t lose Dodo for free.
Our take: Pressure being put on
This suggests the two clubs had merely reached a verbal agreement over the transfer. Nothing was agreed on paper, which is what all parties – especially Fiorentina are waiting for.
This would put pressure on Nottingham Forest to execute a deal quickly. Fiorentina want to avoid the idea of losing the 27-year-old for even less later in the window.
Glasner’s side would get a player who thrives on going up and down on the right flank. While he does have defensive weaknesses, playing as a wing-back would suit him.
