Nottingham Forest failed in a move for Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi in January. There is still hope of a transfer, with the player increasingly accepting he needs to go.
Late in January, the East Mids club came close to signing the Italian. A deal was almost done, with the Nerazzurri only waiting to sign a replacement.
Sport Witness covered the saga closely, as Inter’s failure to sign Curtis Jones led to Frattesi staying.
After that, things haven’t changed for the midfielder. The 26-year-old has started only two Serie A games in 2026, having been relegated to the status of a bench-warmer.
Nottingham Forest can have another chance at Frattesi, who is waiting for a transfer.
Entourage at work for exit
Corriere dello Sport report on the Italy international, making it clear that he was keen on a transfer in January.
The newspaper believe Nottingham Forest couldn’t meet meet Inter demands and that was another reason for failure. The Nerazzurri wanted a loan with an obligation to buy but the Premier League side wanted a simple loan.
Now, it is certain that Frattesi will leave Inter in the summer. He has given up hope of making a mark, despite having been very important for them in the 2024/25 campaign.
The midfielder is said to have lost his smile in the last few months. In hope of an exit, he has his ‘phone in hand’ and his entourage is doing everything to iron out a move.
He wants to play regularly and make an impact at a high level, as he did under Simone Inzaghi.
Nottingham Forest handed another chance
Ideally, a Champions League-experienced player might not be keen on a move to the City Ground. But in this case, things could be different.
Nottingham Forest dealt with Frattesi’s entourage in January in their move for Lorenzo Lucca. It shows they have a very good working relationship, which can also help in signing the Italy midfielder.
Frattesi is a midfielder who adds a lot of unpredictabiilty in the final third. He might not be technically proficient but has a knack for coming up with crucial goals. This will aid any team, let alone Nottingham Forest.
Vitor Pereira’s side have a chance but there is every possibility that more clubs come knocking for him.
