Leeds United currently find themselves top of the Championship table and in a very good position to go on and seal promotion to the Premier League.

Of course, it won’t be the first time Daniel Farke has taken a team to England’s top flight, having done so previously with Norwich City.

Farke will have his head on Leeds United and making sure his team achieve what he’s set out for them in the coming months, but he’ll also have one eye towards Germany and what’s happening with his 17-year-old son.

Luis Engelns turns 18 in March and is coming through the system at SC Paderborn. The young midfielder has already made a series of performances and is rated very highly by the German club.

Saturday’s edition of Neue Westfälische – Höxtersche Kreiszeitung covers the player’s rise and quotes Engelns as saying: “I started playing football when I was three years old. And I immediately had a lot of fun.”

Earlier this season, Paderborn coach Lukas Kwasniok said the youngster’s head is faster than the feet and many players, and added: “Luis simply has the gift of being able to read a game. He knows what will happen in the next step and the step after that.”

So what of a potential move to Leeds United to work directly under his father? Engelns doesn’t appear to be up for it: “He helps me a lot and gives me valuable tips. That made the jump to the pros easier for me, but that’s not a big dream of mine. I would rather go my own way.”
