Cádiz CF want to sign Newcastle United‘s Antonio Cordero, also known as Antoñito, on a fresh loan deal this summer.
Last season, the winger impressed for Málaga and caught the attention of several clubs, partly because of his contract situation.
Newcastle United were successful in securing his services on a free transfer in June 2025. At that time, they confirmed he would go out on loan and two months later, he joined KVC Westerlo.
The 19-year-old had a disastrous spell in Belgium, with 102 minutes from eight matches. In January, the Magpies cut short his stay and sent him on loan to Cádiz until the end of the season.
Cordero enjoyed regular game-time and scored three goals in 1,301 minutes from 21 LaLiga2 matches.
Keen on Newcastle United player
Cádiz CF said goodbye to the Spain U19 international at the end of their season. Both the Newcastle United man and his entourage have a desire for him to continue next season.
That’s according to Marca, who state the Segunda División club are making movements to extend Antonio Cordero’s stay.
The youngster is also attracting interest from RCD Mallorca and his former club, Málaga. However, his absolute priority is to return to Cádiz on a new loan. The latter have to find a fresh agreement with Eddie Howe’s side.
Marca claim the second division Spanish club’s sporting leaders have started negotiations with the Magpies. The financial aspect would be key to determine the outcome of these talks.
Newcastle United covered a large part of his salary while Cordero was on loan in Spain. If he has to return to Cádiz, the Tyneside club may have to again cover the majority of his wages.
Cádiz are optimistic of a positive outcome and Marca are basing this on their excellent ties with the attacker.
Newcastle United to have final say
Antonio Cordero’s contract at St. James’ Park lasts until 2030 and his value, as per Transfermarkt, is €2m.
The contract situation gives Newcastle United full control in deciding his future.
Eddie Howe’s side will have the final say on whether he will stay, return to Cádiz CF or go elsewhere on loan this summer.
