Ronald Koeman is closely following West Ham United’s Crysencio Summerville.

ESPN NL’s Goedemorgen Eredivisie had the Netherlands coach as a guest on Sunday and Soccer News have relayed his comments on the West Ham star.

The winger has enjoyed a good run in this calendar year so far. To put it in context, he’s scored seven goals and contributed two assists for Nuno Espírito Santo’s side in 2026.

This includes a winner against Fulham and a goal in West Ham’s 2-1 league win over Tottenham Hotspur in January.

Last month, Sport Witness covered the Dutch media pushing him for a call up from the Netherlands.

Summerville yet to debut

The West Ham star has played for the Netherlands at various youth levels but is yet to represent their senior team. The 24-year-old is still waiting for his first call up.

Koeman has now confirmed the former Leeds United star is on his radar.

“Our biggest competition is often in midfield and defence, but in attack, it’s a bit less. He plays in the Premier League and is important there at West Ham United. He can play on the right and the left. We’re looking closely at that,” he said.

“He’s also very clever in maintaining possession and has a high level of efficiency in his game. That’s what you’re looking for. He’s used to playing at full intensity, both forward and back.”

West Ham player could soon receive call up

Summerville is also eligible to represent Suriname on the international stage. Henk ten Cate, their manager, has convinced Leeds United’s Joël Piroe to pick Suriname over the Netherlands.

Last month, Sport Witness relayed news that Ten Cate or Koeman haven’t called the West Ham player yet.

That could change soon ahead of the upcoming international break. When asked if he could include Summerville in the next squad, Koeman said: “That’s a possibility, yes.”

However, the former Everton boss won’t just call him up to block him from representing Suriname.

“I don’t think you should select a player just to get ahead of Suriname. A player has to be in the picture, and when he’s ready, you should call him up,” he added.

Oranje risk missing out on Summerville

The Netherlands have two friendlies against Norway and Ecuador in the next international break.

Koeman has to make sure he picks the attacker to make sure the national team don’t miss out on a talented player in the long run.

If not, it leaves the door open for Ten Cate to convince Summerville to pick Suriname.
