Milutin Osmajic now finds himself at Genoa but controversies involving Burnley and Blackburn Rovers continue to follow him.

The striker had become a known Championship goalscorer during his time at Preston. He found the net eight times in the 2025/26 campaign, scoring nine goals in the 2024/25 season too.

At Genoa, he has already opened his account, scoring against Como at the weekend.

Despite the early impact, he continues to carry a bit of a reputation.

Player asked about controversies

The Montenegrin spoke to Secolo XIX about his time at Preston. Mainly, he was asked about controversies involving Burnley’s Hannibal Mejbri and ex-Blackburn player Owen Beck, who was subject to a bite from the striker back in 2024.

While speaking about the racism incident involving the Tunisian, Osmajic said – via Tuttomercatoweb: “Well, no, I’m not guilty. They accused me because they said they probably lip-read something, but that’s not true. l’m from the Balkans, and it was easy to accuse me.”

“They gave me nine match-days and I couldn’t defend myself. It’s something that hurt me deeply, but in the first game against Burnley I scored.”

He also defended himself for the actions against Beck but says he’s changed as a person.

“He almost broke one of my teammates’ legs during the derby against Blackburn. I reacted badly, and I regret it. I made mistakes, but those mistakes are behind me. Now I know how to control myself better. I’ve grown, I know how to use my head, on and off the pitch.”

He also talked up his charitable side, saying: “I like helping others, those who have less than me. If you’re “man of the match” you win something. When I did, I always sent everything to Montenegro, to organisations that help kids in need.”

Attempt to make a new start

The incidents involving Burnley and Blackburn aren’t going away anytime soon. But it is clear that Osmajic wants to make a new start and shift focus to what is happening on the pitch.

This interview is just a way of re-establishing himself at a new club and in a new country.

At the same time, he doesn’t exactly seem entirely regretful about those incidents. He brushes them away, while also suggesting that he never did anything wrong.
