Hull City have made progress in their efforts to bring Kayserispor’s Deniz Dönmezer to the Premier League, after already making contact in the summer.
The Tigers returned to the top flight after overcoming Middlesbrough in the Championship playoff final in May.
Hull City spent around €175m on more than a dozen players in the summer window and have enjoyed a good start to the season. They are eighth in the table after five matches, two points behind third placed Brighton & Hove Albion.
Hull City continue to invest
Sergej Jakirović’s side have conceded four goals and now have the second-best defensive record in the league. Goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis, who arrived from Olympiacos in the summer, has played a huge part in it.
The Greece international’s impressive displays haven’t stopped the club from looking at another stopper.
That’s according to Turkish journalist Reşat Can Özbudak. He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to cover Hull City’s interest in Kayserispor’s Deniz Dönmezer. They had already started talks to sign him in July.
Can Özbudak reports the Premier League side have ‘reached an agreement’ with the second division Turkish club. They will collect £1.5m [€1.76m] in transfer fee and have also agreed to a 10% sell-on clause.
Another journalist, Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, relayed by Kayseri Haber, backs it up and shares more. He says the player will sign a four-and-a-half-year deal, with an option for another year.
The stopper will move to the English club in January. He will, barring any surprises, will initially be a backup for Tzolakis.

Who is Hull City target Dönmezer?
The 18-year-old is a product of Adana Demirspor’s youth system and made his way into their first team in 2024. He conceded 64 goals from 24 matches, without keeping a clean sheet, and left them as a free agent.
That allowed Kayserispor to sign him from free in September 2025, when they were in the Süper Lig. In January 2025, Adana Demirspor vice-president Metin Korkmaz confirmed that Arsenal previously wanted to sign him.
Deniz Dönmezer played three matches for his current club, failing to keep a clean sheet and conceding five goals.
He is yet to keep a clean sheet at club level. Dönmezer made his debut for Turkey U19 in October 2025 and played three matches that month.
The Hull City target didn’t get a call-up for close to a year before returning to the Turkey U19 squad for this international break. He played three matches and conceded nine goals.
