Sunderland striker Brian Brobbey has been a point of discussion in recent days due to an injury. But the player has now attracted attention due to a possible transfer and the situation could be linked to Newcastle United and Manchester United.

Brobbey found the net seven times in the Premier League last season but his skillset was clear to see. It was also evident at the FIFA World Cup for the Netherlands and he has already found the net three times this season.

He has showcased an impressive ability to hold-up play and has a real sense of ruthlessness in front of goal. Brobbey’s reputation has clearly risen as a result and he has now attracted attention from Italy.

Newcastle United clause won’t be used

Juventus signed Newcastle United’s Nick Woltemade in the summer but it was only a dry loan. It has been clear that the Bianconeri would struggle to afford a permanent deal. This will leave them looking around for another striker and attempts are already underway.

Thursday’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport states Juve have no intention of using their clause to buy the Newcastle United player, and sent an official to watch Netherlands’ Nations League clash against Germany some days ago. This scout is quite close to Luciano Spalletti and he was impressed by Sunderland’s Brobbey.

Extensive notes were made about the performance and Juve are now interested in the Black Cats star.

But more importantly, the Bianconeri have an excellent relationship with Brobbey’s agent Meissa Ndiaye, who also represents Jeremie Boga and Khephren Thuram.

They want to take advantage of this, if a chance arrives. Sunderland value their striker at €40m, which shouldn’t be too difficult to afford for Spalletti’s side.

Manchester United’s Benjamin Sesko is another option. The Italian side have noticed how the ex-Leipzig man is struggling with injuries and want to see how things change on that front.

Our take: Value can rise soon

Brobbey has started the season very well and is becoming a Premier League-proven forward. This will allow him to attract more suitors soon, especially as Sunderland are playing in Europe.

So Juventus are being somewhat over-optimistic about a deal. The 24-year-old’s agent will have some sway but it will all come down to which clubs step forward for Brobbey.

Finances could also be a problem for Manchester United’s Sesko, who has a long-term contract at Old Trafford. And even if he leaves, other clubs could be in the picture to land him.
