Brentford have been told they would be signing a “great talent” if they get a deal for Feyenoord’s Antoni Milambo over the line.
1908.nl cover comments from Mario Been today on the youngster, amid reports that Brentford are pushing to try and sign the 20-year-old.
A report yesterday stated that Brentford were already working to sign the midfielder, with talks already underway with both Feyenoord and the player, the latter of whom has already put his personal demands on the table.
Brentford are willing to meet these and a firm proposal is expected to arrive from them, alongside a transfer bid, at the beginning of May.
It’s a move that’s come out of nowhere from Thomas Frank’s side, although they have made a habit of moving behind the scenes and then quickly accelerating to get a deal done.
Milambo could be another such deal, with Brentford seemingly ahead of any potential competition for the youngster at this moment in time. At 20-years-old he’s a relative unknown, but Been insists they’d be getting a great talent for the future.
“He’s a great talent,” 1908 report him saying on Soccer Talk on ESPN.
“You have to ask yourself: is it a ten, six or an eight? It is a boy with a lot of walking ability, and he is the youngest debutant ever at Feyenoord. Boys at that age, who then leave for a Premier League club.
‘What is a great step financially, you have to play there. He has the physicality for it, the conditions are there. Whether such a boy will play right away is still the question. You can see it in Mats Wieffer. He went there with a lot of fanfare, does not always play. He has been injured. Only: it is not easy to join the Premier League at that age.”
