Crystal Palace have seen Walter Benítez referenced in Argentina as River Plate assess their goalkeeping situation after the confirmed exit of their two main goalkeepers.

Reports from the Argentine press, including journalist Iván Alvarenga, say River are holding internal talks on whether to sign another goalkeeper.

For now, the club’s decision is to stick with the current options: Franco Armani and Ezequiel Centurión. However, they’re both injured. The medical staff expect them to return by the end of the month. Youngster Santiago Beltrán would complete the group in the meantime.

Within that scenario, Benítez has emerged as a name “on the radar” rather than a target. The same reports stress that River have not made any approach – and if they do, they would go for a loan. There is no active negotiation or formal step at this stage.

From Crystal Palace’s perspective, the situation remains calm. Benítez only joined the club recently and continues to be part of their plans. There are no signs from England that Palace are open to an exit or preparing a replacement.

Argentine coverage makes it clear that River’s stance is driven by timing and fitness rather than urgency in the market. As things stand, the Buenos Aires club are leaning towards patience, while Benítez stays firmly in Palace’s orbit.
