Everton are set to have a scout at tonight’s match between Benfica and Sporting, according to reports from Portugal.
As newspaper Record reveals the list of clubs who are sending emissaries to the Lisbon derby, it’s said the Toffees are one of those who’ll be represented at the match.
The outlet does not give any detail on Everton’s mission, just pointing out that clubs are ‘preparing purchases’ for the summer window.
We might have a good idea of who the Toffees will be scouting, though, if we take some recent reports from the Portuguese media into consideration.
At the end of January, local reports claimed that Everton were trying to sign Florentino Luís from Benfica. It was even said they made a late attempt on the 30th of January, and that was turned down by the Eagles.
It was such a random claim that it felt genuine, because it would be truly odd to pluck that from thin air.
Back then, it was even claimed that Everton could try the signing again, now perhaps they’re analysing that possibility for the summer window.
The Toffees were also recently linked to Viktor Gyokeres, but given his recent success at Sporting, it sounds highly unlikely they could compete with the European giants for his signing.
