Stoke City and PSV Eindhoven have reached an agreement for midfielder Souleymane Sidibé, with Lille stepping out of the race.
That’s according to journalist Marc Mechenoua, who reports that the midfielder is set to move to the Netherlands in a €2.5m deal. There is a four-year contract waiting for him in Eindhoven.
According to his information, PSV and Stoke have struck an agreement for the 18-year-old after Lille pulled back from the negotiations. They had only intended to move for the midfielder if they sold someone in their squad first, which they have not done.
Sidibé is a product of Stoke’s youth academy, having rose from the academy to the U18s to the U21s and then the first team last year. He’s made 21 appearances for the first team up to this point.
He’s not set to add to that as it seems he will now be on his way to PSV after they struck an agreement with Stoke for him.
Sidibé fits into the Dutch side’s preference of targeting youth for the future and it seems a move is close to being finalised for him.
Voetbal International back this up, reporting that the transfer has been agreed and that PSV intend to have Sidibé undergo a medical on Thursday. The plan is for him to go into their youth set up and fight for a first-team place from there.
