Manchester United are said to be interested in Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Earlier today, Sports Zone reported the Red Devils have contacted the French club over a move for the 26-year-old. L’Equipe now report Manchester United are one of the clubs to have ‘come forward’ to sign the stopper this summer.
The Ligue 1 winners have made progress over a move for Lille’s Lucas Chevalier and his arrival can impact the Italy international. Donnarumma’s contract expires in 2026 and although he expressed his desire to sign an extension, a renewal doesn’t seem to be in sight.
The former AC Milan man earns €850,000 gross per month (€196k a week) and PSG have offered him an extension which would result in a pay drop, which a third made up of bonuses. The treble winners won’t make any exception to renew his contract.
If they are determined to retain him, they may slightly improve the fixed part of salary.
PSG haven’t done this so far and their decision to make advances for Chevalier indicates they don’t plan on doing so. Luis Enrique’s side could even open the exit door to avoid the risk of losing him for free next summer.
Donnarumma is disappointed with the Champions League winners’ stance and isn’t ruling out an exit this summer. At times, he’s felt he’s not valued at PSG, especially by their current coaching staff.
If the French champions decide to sell the Italian, the report states they ‘should facilitate a departure by not being too greedy with the transfer fee’. In other words, they won’t ask for a hefty fee.
Manchester United, Chelsea and Inter Milan are among the clubs to have come forward to sign him and a move depends on what they can offer.
If Ruben Amorim’s side were to make Donnarumma realise he’ll be valued at Old Trafford and convince him with their offer, they could be in line to secure his services.
