Crystal Palace have overcome initial difficulties and made advances to sign Chelsea‘s Axel Disasi this summer.
On July 30th, the UEFA Conference League winners sold Maxence Lacroix to Chelsea and are in the market looking for his successor.
Crystal Palace have the Chelsea man on their list and have made him their priority target.
Crystal Palace agree deal with Chelsea
RMC Sport explain what’s pending for the Eagles to bring the 28-year-old to Selhurst Park.
Pierre Sage’s side are working on signing him on loan with an option to buy. Earlier this month, Sport Witness covered claims from France that Chelsea demanded a €5m loan fee. This saw Crystal Palace pull back but were planning to hold fresh talks.
The Premier League side held talks with the Blues and have already made concrete progress.
The Eagles have reached a verbal agreement with Chelsea to sign Axel Disasi on loan with an option to buy. There’s no mention of the loan fee or the purchase clause.
Crystal Palace meeting with agent
As things stand, the Frenchman’s approval is missing for Pierre Sage’s side to close this operation. The defender has to decide whether to accept this loan or look for another club.
The Eagles have already held a meeting with his representatives and have to carry out negotiations with Axel Disasi for personal terms. He hasn’t agreed so far.
His contract lasts until 2029 but he isn’t part of Xabi Alonso’s core plans. The centre-back needs to leave Chelsea this summer and has an opportunity to join Crystal Palace.
Disasi left AS Monaco for Chelsea in August 2023 and has played 61 matches so far. He had two loan spells at Aston Villa [joined January 2025] and West Ham United [joined January 2026].
RMC Sport end their report by stating: ‘A powerful and versatile central defender, capable of playing in a back three or four, Disasi can bring his physical presence, experience, quality in duels, and aerial ability to Crystal Palace. His experience in the English league is also a significant asset for the Eagles.’
