Crystal Palace are showing ‘keen interest’ in Moroccan youngster Taha Majni, with talks already underway regarding a deal.

Africa Foot report that Crystal Palace are keen on the Union Touarga defender and have already taken action to secure the 18-year-old’s signature.

Talks at an advanced stage

The website reports that their sources have indicated talks between Crystal Palace and Union Touarga are already at an advanced stage. The Eagles aim to reach an agreement with the Moroccan side. They are currently working on the various details of the deal.

The 18-year-old is being closely monitored by representatives of Crystal Palace. The defender likely caught their eye after impressing for the Moroccan U20 national team.

His ‘physical attributes, maturity and versatility’ have been highly appreciated by scouts watching him. The young talent was also on Sporting Gijón’s radar at one point.

He has also been gradually progressing through the youth ranks at Union Touarga and is now a member of the first team squad. Watchers have particularly appreciated his ability to play at centre-back and right-back.

Scouts watching

European scouts see that as an added asset. They’ve been watching him closely for his club. But interest is growing thanks to his performances on the international stage, where he’s made several appearances for Morocco’s U20 team and at younger age levels.

Now Crystal Palace are making their move to secure him ahead of potential competition. Selhurst Park has been a breeding ground for young talent in recent years. The likes of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze are the obvious stand out candidates.

But they have regularly looked to add to that too. The signings of Jaydee Canvot, Adam Wharton and Yeremy Pino in recent years are evidence.

This summer they’ve also signed Zavier Gozo (19) and Anan Khalaili (21). Youth is very much a part of their transfer focus, and now it seems a Moroccan talent is firmly in their sights.
