Nicolo Fagioli has previously been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace now interested in the midfielder.

Earlier this summer, Sport Witness covered how Fiorentina were going fearful about losing the Italian. They expected Newcastle United to step forward for him after losing Sandro Tonali but that didn’t happen.

This comes after Fagioli’s growth in Florence over the past 18 months. He joined them initially on loan from Juventus but the move was made permanent last summer. Amidst La Viola’s struggles, his ability and leadership in midfield shone through.

Now, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest have been handed hope of signing him.

Fagioli’s future is uncertain

Sportmediaset’s Orazio Accomando reports that attention around the ex-Juventus talent is growing. Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest are interested but Napoli could also step forward for his signature.

Fiorentina are likely aware of this and have identified a former player in Lucas Torreira as a possible replacement.

Wednesday’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport reports Christ Oulai’s arrival in Florence has brought about doubts around Fagioli. The summer arrival could be a replacement for the Italian, whose future is uncertain. The two players have never featured together in midfield during pre-season and that could be a promising sign for Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest.

Corriere Fiorentino have similar information.

Our take: Fagioli could be a very good signing

The 25-year-old can operate across the midfield and his technical ability stands out. This was clear even at Juventus and that is why he featured at the European Championships in 2024 for the Italian national team.

He would add obvious technical quality to both Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace. He has experience of playing in Europe too, having played in the Champions League at the Old Lady.

Fagioli’s career is going up and a big move could be on the cards soon.
