Auxerre have made it clear to Crystal Palace that they are unwilling to sell captain Kévin Danois despite the Eagles being willing to pay.
Onze Mondial report, in an exclusive, that the French side have no intention of selling their star midfielder despite the Premier League side’s interest.
They explain that after missing out on Lamine Camara, Crystal Palace have now turned their attention to the Auxerre star. Reports in England this week stated that a €29m deal was being discussed.
A concrete proposal has, reportedly, already been made to the Ligue 1 club. Discussions are ongoing about a deal that could hit €30m, excluding bonuses.
Auxerre uninterested
Auxerre, though, are not interested. They’ve already turned down interest from England in the past, rejecting Hull City’s €15m proposal. At that point, they were demanding at least €25m.
Since then, their stance has changed. Onze Mondial’s information states the French side have no intention of letting go of a player who was recently named captain.
Barring an ‘exceptional bid’, no departure would be possible if an offer did not arrive before mid-August. That could be critical for Crystal Palace.
Crystal Palace need to move quickly
They need to quickly step up negotiations and try to push through a deal before Auxerre make it impossible. For now, though, the French side do not seem interested in negotiating unless it is for a huge figure.
Crystal Palace appear keen to do business in the last two weeks of the window despite spending €63.3m on new faces already. That includes the deal for Dwight McNeil, which saw Brennan Johnson head to Everton in exchange.
He’s one of several new faces alongside Anan Khalaili, Zavier Gozo, Oscar Mingueza and Takehiro Tomiyasu. The attention now appears to be on adding a central midfielder.
Kévin Danois is the primary target, but they need to move fast and decisively to make it happen.
