Brendan Rodgers could see Celtic join AFC Bournemouth in chasing Hertha Berlin’s Jonjoe Kenny in the winter market.
That’s according to this week’s edition of SportBild, and the German magazine covers the interest shown by Celtic and Bournemouth in the right-back.
The Liverpool-born defender previously had a loan spell at Celtic in 2021, when he was at Everton.
He joined the German club after his contract with the Toffees expired in 2022 and signed a contract until 2025.
Hertha Berlin are in the second division in Germany and the 27-year-old wants to play in the topflight, which both Celtic and Bournemouth can offer.
The report further states the Scottish champions are ‘keen’ on signing him, while Andoni Iraola’s side have included the fullback in their target list. It may be possible that Celtic are ahead of the Cherries in the chase for the defender.
With just over six months left on his deal, Hertha Berlin are in favour of his sale because they ‘urgently need’ funds.
SportBild state Kenny is valued at €2.5m and this should certainly be affordable for both Brendan Rodgers’ side and Bournemouth.
