On July 11th, Sportitalia reported Wilfried Gnonto is close to joining Everton while Aston Villa remain in the background for the Leeds United player.
Later that day, Calciomercato.it journalist Alessio Lento stated the Villans have no plans to give up on the forward even though Sean Dyche’s side are insisting on signing him this summer.
Sport Mediaset now state the 19-year-old is set to leave Leeds after their relegation from the Premier League. He’s expected to continue in England where he has an option to join Aston Villa or Everton.
It’s stated Unai Emery’s side have already made contact with the Italy U21 international’s agent and could even start talks with the Whites in the next few days.
The report explains that the Toffees, for their part, have already offered Leeds a deal worth €18m plus €6m bonuses and a five-year deal worth €2m per year to the player.
Sport Mediaset state Aston Villa will have to ‘exceed’ Everton’s offer, to stand a chance of signing Gnonto.
The teenager scored four goals and registered four assists from 28 games last season for Leeds.
