If you asked Manchester United supporters who has been their favourite in recent weeks, a good few would surely pick out Casemiro. The Brazilian has turned his situation around recently and clearly has a heart for the battle ahead.
There’s a good relationship with fans, and the Brazilian this week explained how impressed he is by the Manchester United support.
It’s widely accepted that when the Red Devils signed Casemiro from Real Madrid in 2022, they probably paid over the odds as a full package. There’s been rumours of interest from Saudi Arabia, but no firm offer has come forward.
Trivela in Brazil now report there’s uncertainty around the player because Manchester United haven’t informed his camp they’re counting on him for the 2025/26 season. Casemiro is said to be ‘waiting for a signal’ from the club.
That sounds a little odd, given he’s under contract the rolling assumption would be he stays and he surely doesn’t need telling that repeatedly.
Next, Trivela say Manchester United need to make a longer term decision because Casemiro’s contract situation is putting them under pressure.
The 33-year-old has a contract lasting until 2026 with a club option for a further year.
Trivela state: ‘In this scenario, United find themselves in a tough spot. The club needs to decide as soon as possible whether they want to count on the midfielder to activate the contract renewal clause. Otherwise, the likelihood is that Ruben Amorim will lose a starter for a price well below his value to the team.’
It doesn’t real feel like a tough spot for Manchester United, who appear to hold the cards despite these claims from Brazil.
