Aston Villa are set to be Villarreal star Pau Torres’ next destination, according to today’s AS.
It’s claimed the ‘agreement is total’ between the two clubs for the 26-year-old’s transfer and only the official announcement is missing. The defender will sign a five-year deal with the Villans.
The newspaper adds the announcement of Torres’ transfer to Aston Villa ‘will take place shortly’.
This indicates the Spain international will soon undergo medical tests with the Premier League side before completing a move to Villa Park.
Torres has a year left on his current deal with the La Liga side and that deal includes a €65m release clause. The report states both clubs have decided not to make the fee public but ‘everything indicates’ the move has been agreed for around €35m.
Unai Emery has already trained the Spain international when he was at Villarreal and is now close to being reunited with his compatriot at Aston Villa.
AS say the Villans manager’s insistence has been decisive to convince Torres to join the English club in this window.
Within the report, AS state Torres’ will sign a five-year deal at Aston Villa while their summary states he’s set to commit for four years. This should be clarified when the deal is announced shortly.
