Liverpool defender Ronald Araújo’s agent Edoardo Crnjar has dismissed suggestions of a dip in his form with the Premier League side as he’s enjoying life at Anfield.
Last season, the Uruguay international lost prominence under Hansi Flick at Barcelona. The manager informed him the situation won’t change this season and therefore, he joined Liverpool on loan in the summer window.
The move has worked out well for the Barcelona man as he’s enjoying regular minutes at Liverpool.
He made his Reds debut as a substitute in the 2-2 draw against Newcastle United in August. The 27-year-old then played 13 minutes in another league draw to Nottingham Forest.
Since then, he started in every fixture for the Merseyside club, mainly as a right-back. He operated as centre-back in the EFL Cup win over Tottenham Hotspur and the Champions League win over LASK. Araújo scored his first goal for Liverpool in the 6-3 win on Wednesday.
No concern at Liverpool
Andoni Iraola’s side have secured a €55m purchase option with Barcelona. His good start has led to suggestions of Liverpool securing a bargain deal with the La Liga winners.
Last month, Sport Witness covered a report from Spain explaining that one must not rule out the Reds activating the clause is January.
The UK press recently stated Ronald Araújo’s form has dipped. Therefore, Liverpool are reconsidering whether to make his stay permanent. Edoardo Crnjar has responded to these claims during an interview with 365 Scores and Sport have relayed his comments.
“These are unfounded rumours,” he said.
Good start to Liverpool spell
The representative insists the South American has found stability at the Anfield club. This is “key” for his resurgence under Andoni Iraola’s orders.
“[Ronald Araújo is proceeding] according to the plan established with the coaching staff and the club’s management,” Edoardo Crnjar explained.
The Barcelona man’s agent is hopeful he can continue at Liverpool beyond this season, without Sport backing it up with his comments. The English club can make Araújo’s stay permanent by activating the €55m buyout clause.
It would be an easy decision for the Reds to buy if Araújo were to feature regularly and maintain his form.
