Manchester City defender Angeliño is on a three-man shortlist of players Barcelona are eyeing to back up Jordi Alba.
That’s according to Sport, who say the Spaniard is joined by Jose Luis Gaya and Alfonso Pedraza on the list of players they are looking at.
The Spanish giants are set to sell Junior Firpo next summer, with every indicating that his time at the club is at an end.
He has several suitors around Europe and understands that it would be best for him to find a new club where he can play regularly.
With that in mind, Barça have a list of potential options in mind, and Manchester City’s Angeliño is one of them.
He’s continued to shine at RB Leipzig and ‘meets the profile’ of player that Barcelona are looking for.
He’s considered ‘one of the revelations’ of the last year and his ‘spectacular’ numbers this year, eight goals and eight assists in 22 games, are only strengthening that belief.
The problem for Barcelona is that because of those figures his ‘cache has exploded’ and Manchester City do not have ‘financial urgencies’.
They, therefore, don’t have a need to sell and so the La Liga giants believe he would not be a ‘cheap’ transfer, a big issue for a club whose finances are in a mess.
It means a move isn’t going to happen any time soon but it might in the summer and Angeliño is very much on the list of possible targets, should Firpo end up leaving as expected.
