It appears that Newcastle United, although not making that many movements on the transfer market just yet, could be planning a busy second half of the month.

Just on Tuesday, Le Buteur were reporting that Steve Bruce was pushing his club towards Montpellier’s Andy Delort to take some of the pressure off Callum Wilson, but there’s also the left-back position to think about.

Since losing both Danny Rose and Jetro Willems to their end of lands, the club never bought anyone new in, and they could try and remedy that with Faouzi Ghoulam.

Once linked with the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United, the Napoli defender is having to fight a bit more for game time in the south of Italy these days, which is why a loan is mooted.

This comes from the same outlet, Le Buteur, who reveal the defender ‘has strong chances of leaving in January’, with his few performances enough to convince clubs to give him a go.

It’s said that despite interest from Chelsea, it’s Newcastle ‘who would be rather close to signing the former Saint-Etienne player’.

The Magpies are reportedly trying to bolster their squad and would have ‘contacted the agent’ of the player, who so happens to be Jorge Mendes, to sort out a temporary deal this winter.

Let’s see if they pull it off.
