In the past ten days it’s been confirmed Brighton and Newcastle United will be heading to the Premier League via the automatic promotion places. The two clubs have occupied the top spots for most of the season, and now the race is on to see who comes up via the play-offs.
Huddersfield Town have already secured their place in the Championship finale, and are one of the favourites to achieve promotion to the Premier League with betting top 10
The West Yorkshire side have spent much of the season in the play-off positions, and look on course to finish 3rd in the table, with Birmingham City and Cardiff City left to play.
This leaves Reading, Sheffield Wednesday, Fulham and Leeds United to fight it out for the final three play-off spots with just two games remaining. All fours club have experienced Premier League football since its introduction in 1992, and it looks like being a tight finish.
Of the four clubs it is Fulham who have the momentum at the moment, after recently replacing Leeds United in the top six. The West London side have won their last four games, including demolishing Huddersfield Town last weekend.
Fulham have now opened up a three point lead over Leeds United, and will be confident of getting a result over Brentford this weekend.
Reading and Sheffield Wednesday are also in contention to achieve promotion this season, and now look certain to join Huddersfield Town in the play-offs.
Both clubs have opened a gap on 6th placed Leeds United, but Sheffield Wednesday will be hoping their experience of appearing in the play-off final last season will give them an advantage.
Leeds United also have an outside chance with betting top 10 to get into the Premier League after seeing their chances falter in recent weeks. Garry Monk’s side have occupied the play-off places for most of the season, but since the international break Leeds United have gone a run of bad results.
With Fulham’s superior goal difference there’s a possibility Leeds United’s fate could be sealed this weekend. Victories for Sheffield Wednesday, Fulham and Reading will result in the Elland Road club missing out.
