On Friday we covered claims from Marca that West Ham have ‘submitted a proposal’ to sign Joan Jordan from SD Eibar this summer.

The midfielder has a year left of his current contract and Eibar are looking to cash in whilst they still have the chance to do so. Sevilla were thought to be leading the race, but competition from West Ham was seen as serious, with Arsenal, Villarreal and Valencia also interested in the player.

Marca pointed out Jordan has a €15m buyout clause, but Eibar would be willing to negotiate for less, although they’re insistent they get at least €10m.

On Saturday, the same Spanish newspaper has another Jordan article. This time it’s claimed West Ham are ‘willing to pay €15m’… despite Marca saying just a day ago they wouldn’t need to.

This could all be an exercise to get more money out of Sevilla, with the Hammers sudden interest somewhat inflated, or invented, to pressure Monchi.
