Having already signed Issa Diop from Toulouse for around £22m, you’d have thought West Ham were done restructuring the centre of their defence, but it seems Manuel Pellegrini has other ideas.

The Chilean manager appears to have big plans for the Hammers, and as well as trying to sign Felipe Anderson from Lazio, he’s also looking at another player in Serie A: Armando Izzo.

The Genoa centre-back only played around half of his team’s games last season due to a mixture of injuries and suspension, and it seems the 26-year-old is on his way out.

This is what Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting on Wednesday, claiming the Italian defender is of interest to two clubs: Fiorentina and West Ham.

Other than that, the newspaper doesn’t provide any other information, so there’s no way of knowing how far back this interest dates, nor how much the Serie A side will be asking for their centre-back.

For now, it’s just one to put to one side and keep an eye on, and you can be sure we’ll provide you with an update if anything else comes up.
