It looks like a place in the Champions League final isn’t the only thing that Tottenham Hotspur and Ajax are fighting for.

As reported by Portuguese newspaper Record today, the clubs are also battling for the signing of Porto defender Diogo Queirós… the headline states they both ‘want’ him.

The outlet writes that Spurs and Ajax have the youngster on their list of potential targets for the summer, and there’s a ‘real possibility’ that offers will come for him.

It’s claimed that the Dutch side have been watching Queirós for a while, but Spurs became more interested recently, when sending scouts to watch the player in the Youth League.

Since Queirós is still to be promoted to Porto’s first team, Tottenham’s idea is to get him before he does it, Record says.

This way, they would get him on a cheaper deal, something similar to what they did when signing Eric Dier from Sporting.

Queirós is protected by a €25m release clause, but both Ajax and Tottenham want to offer less.

Record says Porto should get bids around €12-15m, and will analyse all of them.
