According to a claim in the Spanish media, Newcastle United are showing interest in Real Madrid youngster Arda Guler ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 19-year-old only signed for the Spanish league leaders last summer, and his first season in La Liga has been hampered by injury.
Defensa Central report Newcastle United are ‘ready to pay up to €50m’ for the Turkish international as Eddie Howe plans for next season.
With European football still a possibility the Magpies will be looking to add to their squad this summer and Guler could be an option. It’s reported Newcastle are keeping an eye on Guler’s situation in Spain and could look to move in with an offer around that level.
Due to injuries since joining Real Madrid it has been suggested they could look to offload him this summer if the right offer comes in. However, Carlo Ancelotti has recently gone on record to say the attacker is part of his future plans and Guler repaid the faith his manager has put in him by scoring at the weekend.
He’s made just 8 appearances for Real Madrid this season, scoring 2 goals, and is contracted to the club until June 2029.
There’s been an awful lot of hype around Arda Guler for a while and that, obviously, would not be complete without the inevitable claim of interest from the Premier League.
Newcastle United should see this as another sign of their new status as a big player in the market.
