On Wednesday, we covered claims from Italy that Tottenham are ahead of Premier League competition for Arkadiusz Milik.

Napoli want to sell the striker this summer, to avoid losing him for free when his contract expires in June. It had been expected he’d be moving to AS Roma, with Cengiz Under going the other way as part of the deal.

That transfer is now on the rocks because it depended on Edin Dzeko leaving Roma for Juventus, a move which no longer looks like happening.

Subsequently, Napoli have been looking towards the English market, and Tottenham interest gets a mention in Thursday’s Corriere dello Sport. According to the report, Spurs have made contact ‘in recent days’ to get information on the potential signing.

Chelsea and Sevilla are also credited with interest, but it’s unlikely the Blues will make another big signing in attack, and the Spanish side may struggle to give Milik the wages he’s looking for.

Corriere dello Sport say Napoli simply won’t accept the idea of losing the striker for free, so need to find him a new home quickly. A potential transfer is valued at €40m, yet Daniel Levy will be well aware the Italian club will be pressured to bring that figure down should Milik still be a Napoli player in a couple of weeks.

Aurelio De Laurentiis, Napoli’s president, has tested positive for Covid-19 this week, which may slow down any transfer negotiations.
