Arne Slot being on the verge of a move to Liverpool is of course no secret. The Dutch and English media have been all over the story and the manager himself hasn’t been shy about making it clear a move to Anfield is exactly what he wants to happen this summer.
Towards the end of last week there were reliable reports from both the Netherlands and England that an agreement had been reached between the Premier League club and Feyenoord.
There was then an expectation that the move would have either been announced over last weekend or during the past few days, and yet nothing has happened.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the Feyenoord manager was obviously asked about Liverpool.
In response, 1908 quote him as saying: “Nothing has been officially confirmed yet. I’m sitting here with the Feyenoord emblem on my chest, so in principle the intention is that it’s all about Feyenoord.
“I have said before that I am confident that it will be done. I don’t know when that will be. But I expect an agreement will be reached.”
That would obviously suggest an agreement hasn’t yet been finalised. That may just be in relation to announcing the move, or perhaps backroom staff.
Liverpool fans will certainly hope it’s not a hint of trouble ahead.
Arne Slot also moved to deny any idea that he’s made a trip to England this week.
