Ten Hag ‘has asked’ Man United for tireless wing-back – Red Devils have ‘smelled the deal’

Two days ago, Calciomercato explained Manchester United are particularly keen to sign Denzel Dumfries, who has been put on the market by Inter Milan.

Apart from the Red Devils, Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in the right wing-back.

The two Premier League clubs’ interest in the 26-year-old is discussed in today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

The first part of the report focuses on the Serie A side wanting to take Romelu Lukaku on a loan deal and how the interest in the Dutchman could help.

Towards the end, however, Gazzetta mention that Manchester United have ‘smelled the deal’ for the Netherlands international.

With Erik ten Hag already at work at Old Trafford, the former Ajax manager ‘has asked’ the club to sign the Inter player for ‘his’ Manchester United.

That’s all the newspaper have to say about the Red Devils’ interest in the Dutchman, led by their new coach.

The player arrived at the San Siro from PSV Eindhoven last summer and finished his first season in Italy with five goals and seven assists in all competitions.

Dumfries operated as a wing-back at Inter, but is likely to be used on the right side of the defence if United end up securing his services this summer.
