There’s a growing theme in Spain that Jose Mourinho won’t hold David De Gea back from a Manchester United exit. Having favoured the ‘Jose says no’ line for a while, the tables have now turned and the Spanish media are making a sale sound quite possible.
Marca report in their Wednesday edition that Mourinho has made it very clear to his squad that he won’t keep anyone who doesn’t want to stay, but will demand a good price for them.
The Spanish newspaper pick out three players that Mourinho has made his message clear to: Zlatan Ibrahimovic, David De Gea, and Ander Herrera.
Ander Herrera? Yep, for some reason Marca name Mourinho’s pet midfielder. Right now it would feel more likely for Herrera to get a Manchester United crest tattooed on his rear end than ask if he could leave the club.
Anyway, the concentration is on De Gea. Marca say there’s no release clause active this summer (another point which has seen repeated changes of stance) so Real Madrid would have to negotiate a fee. The estimated price is put at €60m.
David De Gea, who Marca concede is happy at Manchester United, ‘continues to await developments’.
