Le10 Sport have an update on the potentially messy situation of Rachid Ghezzal. The Lyon player sees his contract run out in June next year, and that’s largely why the French club accepted a €10m+ offer from Everton over the summer.

Everton also offered personal terms to Ghezzal, and he was given time to be to think about a potential transfer, but in the end turned it down. Then it was reported that Ghezzal was considering signing a new Lyon contract, and hadn’t been keen on Everton because of a lack of European football.

Ghezzal had a renewal offer from Lyon on the table and the club’s president Jean-Michel Aulas told RMC the offer ‘is important, with a salary matching that of players who play for their national team’.

But still, no contract has been signed and Lyon are growing increasingly frustrated. That may change to anger, because Le10 say PSG have an idea to sign Ghezzal for free.

It’s a situation Le10 say Aulas ‘wants to avoid at all costs’, and there’s every chance this could get messy. Another round of contract talks is planned with Ghezzal, and if that once again fails then a free transfer becomes an increasing likelihood.
