Manchester City were strongly linked to Juventus star Leonardo Bonucci before they eventually signed John Stones. The Serie A club managed to keep the Italian defender at the club, and now want to renew his contract.

According to Italian website Calciomercato, Juventus are ready to offer a contract worth €5m per season plus bonuses to Bonucci, largely thanks to his loyalty in the face of Pep Guardiola’s interest.

It’s reported the player will be earning close to €6m per season, and will have a contract until 2021.

Calciomercato say Manchester City offered as much as €60m for Bonucci, whilst the player was offered a contract worth €8m per season, after tax, but couldn’t convince the club or the player.

Juventus were very keen on keeping Bonucci at the club, after letting Paul Pogba sign for Manchester United, and it seems the player is also happy to continue at the Serie A club, where he has enjoyed tremendous success in recent years.
