Yesterday, Sunderland announced the signing of Boavista goalkeeper Michael Simões Domingues, known as Mika. The 25-year-old has signed a two year contract after FIFA gave clearance to the transfer.

It’s reported Sunderland completed all their necessary transfer procedures before the deadline, but Boavista had some technical difficulties to complete the required paper work. They blamed FIFA, but it all got sorted out in the end.

Shortly, after the announcement, Mika shared a video on Facebook to thank Boavista fans, and the club, after fulfilling his dream of signing for a Premier League club.

He said: “I want to thank all the fans of Boavista and the club, for welcoming me so well.

“I take this opportunity to fulfil the dream of being able to get to the Premier League and Boavista will be in my heart.”

David Moyes was forced to sign a goalkeeper after injury to Vito Mannone, and will be delighted to have signed the Portuguese goalkeeper.
