Italy legend Fabio Cannavaro has again shared his delight at being considered for the Everton job back in January.

The Blues were on the hunt for a new manager during the January transfer window after deciding to bring Rafa Benitez’s miserable spell in charge to an end.

They eventually settled on Frank Lampard but only after a protracted managerial search in which a long list of candidates were considered.

Cannavaro was one of them, with reports making it clear he held several rounds of talks with the Everton hierarchy.

His potential appointment did not go down well with the Everton fanbase, who were less than impressed by the idea of a man whose managerial career has seen him take charge of the likes of Guangzhou, Al-Nassr, Tianjin Quanjian and China.

Eventually, the Blues went with Premier League experience in Lampard, leaving Cannavaro to keep searching for his next job.

He’s already spoken about his desire to find the right opportunity and the chance to talk to Everton, something he now says was a ‘pleasure’.

“I observe, I update, I memorise data,” he told Calciomercato.it.

“I’m not in a hurry to choose, I’m waiting: I had the chance to talk to the Polish Federation, but I would have had little time to prepare a play-off for the World Cup, which unfortunately will not be played because there is a war going on.

“I’ve had the pleasure and the honour of talking to Everton, Watford and Corinthians. I’m looking around, and we’ll see.

“I don’t want to make a wrong choice. And with the Growth Decree, I’ll cost even less than you might suspect.”
