Fulham have been linked to Grégoire Defrel several times during the January transfer window, and those links aren’t likely to stop.

Friday’s edition of Il Messaggero reports that Defrel wants to leave Sampdoria after the arrival of Manolo Gabbiadini from Southampton earlier this month.

The only clubs named as wanting to sign him are Fulham and Atalanta.

Defrel is actually on loan at Samp from AS Roma, and it’s thought to be a good opportunity for the capital club to make some money this month.

Over at Tuttosport, they also say in their Friday edition Fulham and Atalanta are on the track to signing the player.

Since Claudio Ranieri took over at Fulham there have been endless rumours in the Italian media about the club being interested in a whole bunch of players.

This is either because it’s a nice new link to pluck out of thin air, that agents believe they have a good chance of sending players there, or due to genuine increased interest in the Italian market.

Defrel has six goals in Serie A so far this season, from 13 starts and five substitute appearances. He’s a centre forward, but does tend to drift out and to the right a little.
