Sint-Truiden defender Ameen Al-Dakhil has admitted he doesn’t know what the future holds after a €4m bid from Burnley in the summer.

The centre-back was targeted by Vincent Kompany in the summer transfer window as part of his rebuild of the squad he inherited from Sean Dyche.

That saw him focus on Belgium, where he worked with Anderlecht over the last few seasons and thus had a good knowledge of the talent available in the country.

One of those he had set his sights on was Al-Dakhil, who impressed for Sint-Truiden in the second half of last season following a €500k move from Standard Liege.

The 20-year-old’s performances seemingly caught Kompany’s attention, so much so that Burnley were willing to pay €4m to take him to Turf Moor.

Indeed, at the beginning of September it was reported the Clarets had already agreed terms with the player, but Sint-Truiden complicated the matter, and it did not go through.

He remained in Belgium for the time being and admits he doesn’t know if Burnley or anyone else will come calling again.

“There was a lot of talk in the last transfer period,” Voetbal Belgie reports him saying.

“I don’t know what will happen soon. But I feel very good at STVV and am definitely ready to finish the season here. We’ll see.”
